Sloan was first introduced to doula work during her senior year of college. While completing her bachelor’s degree in Clinical and Applied Health Sciences at Drake University in Des Moines, IA she took an elective course in Reproductive Law and Policy. During the course, she learned about different birth options and practices, as well as how traditional births in America differ from traditional births in other countries. This information was exciting and intriguing to her, as she had always been fascinated with pregnancy, childbirth and children. A few years later, when Sloan was pregnant with her daughter, she witnessed firsthand the extreme lack of support available for expectant mothers. Following the birth of her daughter, she began to explore doula work more seriously. During this exploration, she attended several births for her friends and family members, and supported them through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.

She was, and continues to be, passionate about empowering and educating women, and helping them enjoy the incredible journey of pregnancy and childbirth. She is excited to join the incredible team of women at Green Bay Doulas, and have the opportunity to support more women during the most exciting time in their lives!

Sloan is happily married and lives in Appleton with her husband, stepdaughter and daughter. In her free time, you can find her spending time with her family, practicing hot yoga, and exploring and enjoying all things outdoors!
